HB 2244 just passed out of the Pennsylvania House Judiciary Committee by a 14-12 vote.
Every Republican on the committee voted NO.
But this fight is not over.
HB 2244 is now headed to the full Pennsylvania House floor, where it could come up for a vote this week.
Politicians are calling it “safe storage.”
But let’s call it what it really is: deadly gun lockups.
This bill could make it harder for law-abiding Pennsylvanians to access a firearm when seconds matter most.
If a criminal breaks into a home in the middle of the night, a mother should not be forced to fumble with a safe, a lock, a key, or a code while her children are in danger.
That is not safety. That is a deadly mandate from Harrisburg.
