A Pennsylvania Congresswoman Signed This Ammo Bill

Rep. Madeleine Dean of Pennsylvania’s 4th District is one of 23 cosponsors, all Democrats, of H.R. 7166, the so-called “Stop Online Ammunition Sales Act.” It would end private ammo sales, require a photo ID in person for every purchase and report bulk buyers to police. The Pennsylvania Firearms Association wants the rest of our delegation on record against it.

Rep. Madeleine Dean of Pennsylvania’s 4th District is a cosponsor of H.R. 7166, the so-called “Stop Online Ammunition Sales Act.” She’s one of 23 cosponsors, all Democrats, and the list grew again on Oct. 5 when Rep. Troy Carter of Louisiana joined.

Here’s what Rep. Dean put her name on. Only licensed dealers could sell ammunition, so private sales between Pennsylvanians would end. Every buyer would have to show a photo ID to the dealer in person, which effectively ends ordering ammo online and having it shipped home. And buy more than 1,000 rounds in five business days, and the dealer reports you to the Attorney General and to state or local police.

A Pennsylvania politician is helping write the rules for how you buy ammo. The bill has sat in the House Judiciary Committee since Jan. 20 without a hearing, and that’s the best time to make sure every other member of our delegation goes on record against it.

P.S. Rep. Dean thinks your ammo should be bought face to face, with ID, and reported to police in bulk. Show her and the rest of Pennsylvania’s delegation you disagree. Sign here.
